28 Oct 2016 - Alba Science Attends Scottish Lifesciences Association event “SLA Members Reception”

Emma Kleppang from Alba Science attended the evening event at RBS Conference Centre in Gogarburn on October 28th 2016.

Alba Science likes to stay current, not only within the cosmetics bubble, but on the Life Sciences sector as a whole. The event focused on the development of collaborative solutions to existing and future issues in R&D, and included exhibits from companies involved in the sector.

The evening kicked off with a warm welcome from the host Neil Bellamy, head of Technology at RBS.

Paul Wheelhouse, Scottish Government Minister of Business Innovation, shared his thoughts on how business in the Life Sciences sector will continue to flourish in the next few years. The audience were reminded of Scotland’s international reputation for excellence in the sector, with access to top research collaborators and universities.

Kristin Jones, CEO of Indiana Health Industry Forum, travelled across the pond to present on the growth opportunities available to R&D companies in Scotland. Kristin touched on partnership opportunities and expressed that the US puts Scotland at the front for innovation and growth in Life Sciences, and regards it as a hot spot for investment.

Following the presentation, attendees posed questions to the keynote speakers. An interesting mix of backgrounds – tech, life sciences, medicine, academia – gave rise to some very insightful conversations.

Discussions continued whilst attendees circled the exhibits. An ideal environment for a meeting of the minds from Scotland’s prospering biocluster, and a chance for Alba Science to develop collaborative R&D solutions that add value to current and future customers.
