A UVA : UVB ratio is established for products which contain sunscreens and an Sun Protection Factor (SPF) star rating can be applied to the product which follows the industry standard Boots™ Star Rating Method.  This provides information on the amount of UVA absorption provided by the product in comparison to UVB absorption. 

Alba Science has considerable experience in both the development and evaluation of sun protection products for both the UK and overseas markets.

We adhere to the Colipa Guidelines method for the In Vitro determination of UVA protection provided by sunscreen products (edition of May 2008). We fully comply with this EU Guildeline and have the UV 2000S and the Atlas Suntest for irradiation. The Atlas Suntest is calibrated to Colipa Guidelines. In addition we comply with the measurement of UVA : UVB ratios according to the Boots Star Rating System (2008 Revision)
