These types of studies are useful for gathering safety and efficacy data for your product. 

A panel of 30, 40 or 50 volunteers is recruited to trial your product over a designated period of time.  They follow instructions on how to use the product at home and are provided with questionnaires to complete at the end of the study which provides very useful information which can be used to help with the marketing of your product.
