Hair Washing Study

The objective of this type of study is to compare the effect of a test shampoo (against a control shampoo) on the scalp barrier of subjects with a normal scalp condition. Scalp moisture levels, TEWL and visible dryness will be measured, at two time points (2 hours and 24 hours), following multiple hair washes. All volunteer subjects will receive one wash with a marketed beauty shampoo at run-in phase. This will be followed by one week (7 days) daily half head salon wash with the shampoo allocated to each side (allocation A), followed by another week where the half head product allocation will be different to the first week (allocation B). Scalp moisture levels, TEWL and visible dryness will be measured, 2hrs (+ 15mins) and 24hrs (+ 2hrs) after each designated hair wash (designated as the first, third and seventh hair wash of each 7 day test period).
