Victor Reynolds - Chief Executive Officer

Victor Reynolds has over 20 years experience in software development and business process management, leading development teams in the production and implementation of mission critical systems for a variety of large multinational companies in the Banking, Oil and Clinical Research sectors.

Having studied Computing Science and Business Management at Heriot-Watt University, Victor became both a certified IBM Associate Developer and a Microsoft Certified Professional, and so possesses a wealth of experience in technologies such as Lotus / Domino / Visual Basic / SQL/Active Directory and Microsoft Office.  These skills, together with significant experience in the Clinical Research sector ensure that the growth of the business is supported by the implementation of the appropriate supporting systems and processes, part of Alba Science's commitment to having an industry leading IT infrastructure at the core of the business.

Having been with Alba Science since its inception, Victor has been heavily involved in the formation and shaping of the company, building the internal framework of processes, computer systems and methodologies throughout the organisation.  Victor is currently involved in the implementation of ISO throughout the company and will soon be commencing a Master of Business Administration course at Edinburgh Business School.

Marie Reynolds - Chief Technical Officer 

Marie Reynolds has 26 years’ experience in all areas of the Consumer Product Testing industry in all aspects of contract research and clinical trial management.  Originally a Senior Photobiologist for Inveresk Research, Marie went on to become a senior scientist for Boots Contract Manufacturing before becoming Consumer Research Unit Manager for Inveresk Research.

Marie has a BSc Honours degree in Biological Sciences and a Society of Cosmetic Science Diploma and has a proven track record of developing, running and managing clinical studies for a wide range of international companies and government organisations.

In her capacity as Technical Director of Alba Science, Marie has responsibility for the design and conduct of a wide range of clinical studies, whilst also managing the growth of Alba Sciences service portfolio, adding new leading-edge technologies and methods in order to position Alba Science as a market leader.  Marie also looks after all the business development activities within the company and is currently involved in bringing a new range of sun product testing services to Alba Science.

Julie Macdonald - Clinical Operations Director

Julie Macdonald was brought in to Alba Science in 2007 not long after the company opened its first facility in Edinburgh.  Julie has just over 17 years’ experience working in Clinical Research and was key to the development from the beginning with Alba Science.  Working for Inveresk Research which at the latter end became Charles River, Julie started as a Clinical Research Assistant and was soon promoted to Senior CRA a role which she continued to strive in until the Charles River unit was closed in 2006. 

Julie was head hunted for the role of Clinical Trials Manager at Alba Science due to her extensive knowledge and experience of all aspects of running consumer research studies including study planning, resource scheduling, subject recruitment, organising and performing technical procedures, data capture and analysis, expert assessor and QA experience.  Within Alba, Julie continues to be key and is responsible for all of the Alba personnel including three key professional consultants and overall operation of the running of the facility.  Julie continues to develop the business and ensures that the studies are carried out following the guidelines of GCP and that they meet ISO 9001:2008 stipulations.  Julie continues to lead the Technical Team as the Operations Director.

Daniel Whitby – Development Officer

Dan joins Alba Science with twenty years of experience in the personal care industry across a variety of technical roles. After studying biology in Nottingham his career began in formulation at the Boots Company and during his ten years at Boots Dan completed the SCS Diploma in Cosmetic Science. Whilst working in the innovation department he was involved in patenting various technologies and finally worked for several years in the Boots Evaluation Suite developing new claims testing technologies. Dan left Boots to work for the Cornelius Group plc, initially in technical sales and quickly moved into the role of Technical Business Development Manager supporting both the internal marketing team and external customers with technical advice and support. During his career Dan has contributed frequently to various trade journals, websites and books and is often invited to speak at various cosmetic science events.

Dan’s role at Alba will cover both technical and business development helping to identify and pursue new opportunities in both areas, supporting the technical team and our global customer base.
